During its five years of operation from 2009 to 2014, the Institut für Raumexperimente, under the direction of Olafur Eliasson and in affiliation with the Berlin University of the Arts, served as an internationally recognized model project for art pedagogy and research. To mark the conclusion of this era, the Festival of Future Nows will take place at the Neue Nationalgalerie from October 30th to November 1st, 2014, bringing together works by former participants and fellows, associated artists, and guest lecturers. The festival’s programme of performances, sculptures, lectures, and installations – all to be held within the David Chipperfield exhibition Sticks and Stones and in the areas surrounding the museum – offers visitors myriad opportunities for both reflection and active participation.
